Styling Tip: Work with Proportions

Strutting around the city in Flared jeans and a tucked in white blouse. At first I couldn’t figure out how to wear this top because it literally opens the whole way down past the waist. I love showing off my intricately cut peek-a-boo bras and all, but I’m not really down with flashing random strangers at every gust of wind. Then, I realized the top draped in the most perfect way when tucked into anything high-waisted. Plus, it keeps the top just closed enough. Now I can’t get enough of tucked in “drapey blouses” with high-waisted flares. Now to find a blouse with more buttons!

Once you find the right proportions for your body, my advice to you is to milk it until it just doesn’t work for you anymore. Pretty sure I’m going to wear Flared jeans until I grow tired of them. I’ve said this before and will say it again… flares make me look sky high and I wouldn’t trade that for anything. Nope not nevah! Oh, yeah, ALSO I have chicken legs and skinny jeans only make them look even thinner (and I think not in a good way).  The Flares make my legs look long and if its high-waisted even better. The deep V neck continues the long lines making my torso look longer as well instead of being shortened by the high-waist jeans. I’ve always though that working with proportions in the right way can definitely make your outfit and take it to the next level. Choose pieces that elongate your legs, show off your waist and balance your lengths.

I’ve been wanting to do a “Dressing for your body type” kinda post for a while now.. maybe I should finally get into that! What do you guys find really looks great on your body type?
