Styling Tip: Choose one Statement Piece

Let’s talk about that thing that makes your pupils dilate the second you see it. It makes your heart flutter every time you touch it. It makes you feel like a bad ass just because you can call it yours. I’m not talking about love or any sort of that “I need a man” nonsense.  I’m talking about that statement piece that you just have to have the moment you see it!
One of my favorite styling tricks is to get a statement piece that makes you feel like a boss babe and style your outfit around that piece. Always keep great items like this in your closet.  Maybe some amazing embellished jeans, an embroidered skirt, that vintage Chanel jacket you scored at a thrift shop. In this case, my statement piece is this long beautiful floral print kimono that had me at “velvet cuffed sleeves”. This  Zara kimono  is such a showstopper!
When styling a good statement piece, you don’t want to wear anything that might compete with it (as it can definitely speak for itself). These conversation starters don’t need any kind of help. Keep it simple and if anything, only wear pieces that might compliment your statement and make it stand out even more. I kept this look semi casual and styled this kimono with basics like these cropped jeans, an oversized white tee and some black mules.
I love sharing these ‘Styling Tips posts with you guys because they are so simple that you probably already know them. It just takes a small reminder of these tips or a simple explanation to help elevate your everyday outfits. What’s your favorite statement piece in your closet?
