Packing for Maui with just one carry on

Hey guys! I’m sitting on my bed watching Big Little Lies for the second time beginning to end, and just finished packing for my trip to Maui. I was able to pack everything into one carry-on suitcase and one backpack with all my photography equipment /computer stuff. It’s actually amazing how many outfits and things I packed in one carry on!  I packed about 10  outfits( or more if I mix and match) for this trip including bathing suits, accessories, and toiletries. My family and friends are always so amazed at how many looks I can fit into such a small bag so I thought maybe I should share my packing tips with all of you.

A few tricks I use for packing:

• ROLL don’t fold your clothes: I find rolling helps me fit a lot more into the suitcase!
• Make sure to use all the nooks and crannies: if you packed purses and bags,  stuff them with underwear, scarfs or maybe shirts to fill the space completely. Put bags inside bags, socks or bathing suits inside shoes…etc.
• Write it all down: I like to write things down so that I know exactly what is in my bag. That way,  I can review it all and see if I am taking too much or maybe have room to  add something. Also, it helps to make sure you NEVER forget anything. Write down everything from your socks to your chargers
• Google the weather: I always google the full days before heading to my destination. It just really helps so I am not caught off guard.
• Pack items you can wear over and over mixed together different ways. I love to pack sets because you can always wear the pants and tops separately or together creating about 3 different outfits. I also love good basics like solid white tees and denim shorts/skirt/jeans to pair with different tops. If it’s a beach vacation I sometimes also factor a bathing suit into the outfit equations.

What I packed:

 10 + outfits: 

• 3 dresses
• 2 top an bottom sets
• one beach cover-up
• 1 denim skirt
• 1 denim short
• 5 tops
• 2 t-shirts
• bras
• 3 pairs shoes ( Birkenstocks, 2 cute flat sandals
• 4 swimsuits
• hair curler
• toiletries
