Sustainable and Ethical fashion brands you will love!
As I get older I find myself wanting to invest in brands that are made of excellent quality, that will last me longer (classic) and that have an amazing story behind the brand. I have also started to really become a little more interested in sustainable and ethically made clothing. I have to be honest, I think it would be hard for me to go completely 100% sustainable fashion and step fully away from “fast” fashion, but I find myself more and more trying to buy consciously and steer the other direction. I’ve found that a lot of these brands actually have better quality product that will last longer and are definitely worth the investment. In an effort to educate myself further I decided to do some research on cute sustainable and ethically made brands. Love good brands that are also good for our planet! The brands below are all amazing brands and also chic AF (I mean.. I wouldn’t have it any other way). Check them out below and If you have any others you would like to share please share in comments below! Anywho here’s what I found:
If you don’t know what sustainable or ethical means in the fashion world here ya go:
‘Sustainable fashion, also called eco fashion, is a part of the growing design philosophy and trend of sustainability, the goal of which is to create a system which can be supported indefinitely in terms of human impact on the environment and social responsibility. It can be seen as an alternative trend against fast fashion.” – wikipedia
Ethical Fashion is an umbrella term to describe ethical fashion design, production, retail, and purchasing. It covers a range of issues such as working conditions, exploitation, fair trade, sustainable production, the environment, and animal welfare
Sustainable and Ethical fashion brands you will love:
Reformation
I’ve been raving about Reformation all Summer Long. This summer their collection was so darn good I couldn’t stop shopping. Now jumping into Fall I know I will be investing in a few pieces as well. Reformation is killing it in the sustainable fashion game using sustainable fashion materials, rescued deadstock material and repurposed vintage. What I love is that they explain all their materials and why they are sustainable on their website. I’ve bought a lot of their pieces recently and have not regretted one piece yet. So good! SHOP HERE.
ShopDoen
Doen is a female led brand that has a beautiful collection of vintage 70’s bohemian-esque inspired every day wear. The best part of this brand is they are big supporters of women in the work place. The brand is run by strong females. I actually had a lot of fun reading up on this brand as it is super inspiring! Each season they give back by creating a special children’s collection where 100% of the profits go to Room to Read (mission is to improve literacy and help promote gender equality). This is such a beautiful brand! SHOP HERE!
Raven + Lily
I recently found out about Raven + Lily while doing some research about this topic and LOVE LOVE their bags. This brand helps to employ over 1,500 artisan woman around the world providing them with good wages, safe work healthcare and more. Also, each purchase on their site helps fund micro-loans to women in their partnering communities. Now that’s just freaking amazing and definitely a brand I will stand behind. They also use recycled and repurposed materials to create thebeautiful products. Loved their hats + they also have some pretty cute home decor stuff. SHOP HERE.
Matt & Natt
Matt and Natt is a Vegan brand committed to not using any animal-based materials and focus instead on using recycled materials. All linings are made of 100% recycled plastic bottles. Their designs are minimal, simple, clean and classic. I personally love their wallets and am thinking of getting my pooch one of their dog collars 🙂 SHOP HERE.
BOYISH
I recently found out about Boyish and I am in love. Boyish uses sustainable fabrics and produces everything through “an environmentally-friendly and cruelty-free process” (as they state on their site). The awesome part of Boyish is that they use 1/3 of the amount of water most denim companies use. They also recycle their water. #winning for sure. SHOP HERE
EDUN
This line is absolutely beautiful. Eduns mission is to source sustainable production and encourage trade in Africa. Their bags are so beautiful you would never know they are vegan! What I really love is that they say exactly where the bag was made, what factory, and why the fabric they use is a better option for the environment. Seriously guys, this brand is on the more expensive side, but their products are beautiful. SHOP HERE
United by Blue
If you are looking for more affordable, casual options this brand is pretty cute and love their mission. Basically every time you buy something, United by Blue removes one pound of trash from the ocean and waterways. They also make sure to use responsible materials in their clothing like recycled polyester (reusing plastic bottles in it). Love love this idea behind the brand. You know Im an ocean lover so all about this. I especially love their cozy sweatshirts! SHOP HERE
