5 Best Brunch Spots In San Diego
5 Best Brunch Spots In San Diego
There is no denying that the locals of San Diego take brunch VERY seriously, myself included. I personally love going out for brunch whether it’s with my family, my husband, or with my girlfriends. Starting your day with getting dressed up for a good meal and a fruity mimosa always gets me in the best mood. There are endless amounts of breakfast places to choose from, but I have narrowed it down to my personal 5 Best Brunch spots In San Diego that are delicious, yet also very trendy (perfect for that Instagram photo op).
MORNING GLORY

Address: 550 W Date St, San Diego, CA 92101
This aesthetically pleasing spot is new to the San Diego brunch scene and already it on the top of everyone list for one of the best brunch spots in San Diego. It recently opened up, so the wait times can get pretty long on the weekends. I recommend stopping on the weekdays to avoid crowds or earlier in the mornings to beat the rush. This gem is tucked away in Little Italy so you can start your day with breakfast and continue walking around the neighborhood. The restaurant is covered in pink walls, gold accents and the most stunning decor (pictured above). It takes brunching to a whole other level! Seriously brunch goals. Don’t leave without trying to the pancake souffle. So worth those extra calories, I promise!
QUEENSTOWN PUBLIC HOUSE

Address: 1557 Columbia St, San Diego, CA 9210
This New Zealand themed restaurant is another favorite place for brunch that I’ve been going to for years. It’s also located in Little Italy. As it is adorable, it isn’t modern or trendy like Morning Glory. Instead, this place gives off a more “at home” feel being that is it wooden Victorian House building and the large outside patio is covered in plants. The food is always spot on and it makes you feel like you’re actually in New Zealand, enjoying your meal at a bed and breakfast. You can never go wrong coming here! Oh, they are also dog-friendly (as long as you are outside) so that’s always nice!
THE MISSION

Address: 3795 Mission Boulevard, San Diego, CA 92109
The mission is probably my favorite spot of all for yummy, chill brunch. There are actually 3 locations, one in North Park, Mission Beach, and East Village. When I used to live in North Park I would walk to this brunch spot all the time. This place offers a lot of yummy vegetarian options which is always a plus since I try not to eat red meat when I can. Another plus is that a gluten-free menu is also available on request and all their eggs come sourced from a local farm! You always know you’re getting great quality food when you eat at the mission! Love their healthy options as well as their indulging treats.
BREAKFAST REPUBLIC
Instagram: @breakfastrepublic
Address: 730 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92104
This brunch spot is one of the most known brunch places in San Diego and almost always voted the best breakfast spot in SD by locals. The North Park location is my favorite, but there is a total of 8 locations in San Diego county! They offer American classics like eggs benedict, omelets and scrambles. What sets this brunch spot apart from the rest is they take traditional breakfast dishes like pancakes and french toast and give it a twist. Their churro pancakes are to die for and the s’mores french toast is dangerously sweet. They also offer morning cocktails to top off your brunch date! There’s always a wait here, so weekdays are my favorite time to go.
THE GREAT MAPLE

Address: 1451 Washington St, San Diego, CA 92103
Last, but not least is, The Great Maple. This place is the perfect 1950’s-style brunch spot that offers comfort food with a modern twist. Some customers come just for the maple bacon covered donuts, but my personal favorites are the English Popovers! They serve big portions so you really do get what you’re paying for. This place is almost always busy but trust me-it’s worth the wait. They have another location in La Jolla as well as other neighboring cities in Southern California. The menu varies on location as well so make sure to do some research before visiting.
