Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas for Every Occasion
Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas for Every Occasion
February is finally here and in case you haven’t been to Target or to the mall lately, it’s full-on Valentine’s Day mode. Valentine’s Day is the one holiday we all hate to love (or for some, maybe even love to hate?). The hubby and I like to keep it chill and usually do something casual, like dinner at one of our favorite restaurants or a home-cooked meal. So I will most likely be in jeans and a silky top, or maybe a slip dress!
Whether you’ve got Galentine’s Day plans with the girls or fancy dinner date with your new fling, I know how hard it can be to find the perfect outfit. You want to be festive, but not over the top, sexy, but not too risqué and most importantly, you want to wear something you can actually wear more than once! No matter what your plans are, below are some easy, non-cheesy Valentine’s Day outfit ideas for every occasion. Keep reading for all the Vday Inspo you need.
GIRL’S NIGHT OUT
Did you know Valentine’s Day is actually a great night to go out when you’re single? If you and your single girlfriends are feeling the Valentine’s Day blues, round up the girls and hit the town. Wear something festive but that doesn’t feel like you’re trying too hard. Jeans paired with a fun top and heels is the perfect outfit formula.
DATE NIGHT
Date night with your significant other always feels extra special on Valentine’s Day. Maybe it’s the chocolate, the flowers or the extra compliments, but if he’s going all-in with Valentine’s surprises, it’s definitely the occasion to put a little extra effort into your outfit! You can’t go wrong with a sexy slip dress, a chunky knit sweater or faux fur and heels. If you’re more of a pants girl, go for some leather pants and a silk cami.
CASUAL DINNER
This section is probably the most relevant to all of us who already had our fair share of fancy date nights. For casual dinner date night plans, jeans are totally fair game, but since it is a romantic holiday, find a way to dress it up! Something like a silk or lace top, a sexy red bodysuit or festive one-shoulder top are great options.
FANCY PARTY
Got invited to a fancy Valentine’s Day party with a “dress to impress” dress code? Skip the jeans and pants and opt for a chic mini dress, a fitted midi dress or flowy jumpsuit. If the party is Valentine’s theme, definitely go for the appropriate color tones–pink, blush, red, purple, micro florals or even champagne nudes. Just skip the black or dark colors! So many cute options below.
STAYING IN
So you decided this Valentine’s Day, you’re just going to stay in. There’s no better time to give yourself a little extra love! Maybe that means popping a bottle of bubbly and treating yourself to a luxe bath or ordering takeout and eating in your pajamas. Do what makes you feel happy and if you feel like looking the part, here are some cute V-day outfit ideas for staying in and celebrating your beautiful self.
SUSTAINABLE & FESTIVE
As I mentioned at the bottom of this post, I’m including a special section here full of Valentine’s Day outfit options that are sustainably and ethically made. Reformation (forever a favorite) is a great place to start since they have a ton of dresses and cute date night tops. I also found some great options from some of my other favorite brands that I’ll link below!
