How to celebrate NYE at home
How to celebrate NYE at home
I don’t know about you, but I am SO ready to celebrate the fact that we got through 2020!! What a crazy ride it has been amiright? For some of us, we are on second lock down, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate New Years Eve. There are plenty of ways you can still celebrate while practicing social distancing and staying safe during Covid-19. Here’s a few ideas you can do from the comfort and safety of your homes to help make NYE more memorable.
Small Group or Virtual
Craft Cocktail Time Time to bust out those cocktail making coffee table books you got last Christmas and try a fun festive drink out! Make sure you know what you are making and get all the supplies ahead of time so that you aren’t caught off guard! This is also fun if you are doing a zoom party as you’re zoom party can all make your own at home and cheers via the screen!
Create an IG Worthy wall – This one is just a fun way to get crafty and make something pretty and memorable. You can use fun decorative balloons, hang lots of sparkly lights, get those balloons that have numbers and tape them to the wall. I kind of love the idea of disco balls and flowers! I have been seeing it on Pinterest and it’s SUPER CUTE. Pinterest always has the best ideas.
Bust out the games- Plan some fun drinking games if you feel like getting a little saucey. Love that you can do this with a small intimate group of friends or zoom as well.
A few fun ones: Jenga, Never Have I ever, Straight Face (love this one so much)
If you don’t want to deal with a hangover the next day, you can do some non alcoholic fun games like charades or some board games.
Murder Mystery – If you are doing virtual party, a murder mystery party could be a super fun idea and personally one I would love to try out. Have everyone dress their parts and get super into character! This website that has virtual murder mystery parties if you want to check it out.
Leaving the past in the past mini ceremony – light a fire, gather around, everyone write down something they want to leave in the past on piece of paper and throw it into the fire. You can either share what you wrote or keep it secret.
Live stream dance party – Turn your house into a club! You don’t need a house full of people to dance and have a good time. Get some good speakers, make backdrop cool, and have a zoom party. You can also download twitch and live stream! Look up who is doing live streams online. This year there are definitely going to be some good ones!
Cute couple ideas:
Build a fort– this idea kind of stresses me out because we don’t have a lot of space in our house, but at the same time if you don’t do this during NYE then when else?! A cute idea would be to build that forth with an opening to a projected movie. Grab your favorite drinks, popcorn and have a movie marathon in the comfiest cozy clothes.
Cook – cook together and make an epic meal that you will both be full from and will just want to snuggle up on the couch and watch movies after. Make appetizers, a few courses and desert! John and I love to make themed dinners like Japanese, Italian, Greek..etc. We go all out and make sure its all from the theme.
Families:
Have a Pajama party – This one seems so appropriate for 2020! Take it up a notch though and have a fun pillow fight where winner gets a fun prize or maybe gets to pick the movie everyone watches.
Sushi – Love this idea but you can all do it as a family. Get all the supplies ahead of time and gather around the kitchen and make an event out of making sushi rolls! The best part is eating it after of course.
Movie marathon– Pick a genre and watch everything in this genre! Holiday movies are always fun.
Get Fancy : Black tie it up and drink some champagne. This is just a fun excuse to all get dressed up and feel fancy. Don’t forget to get a family Christmas photo of everyone done up. If you want to have fun with it, maybe make it a TACKY BLACK TIE event and just have fun with it and take some silly family photos.
Hope you have fun no matter what you do and Happy Holidays!!!!
xx Francesca
