What to expect from Frank Vinyl in 2018

February 5, 2018

First off, thanks to those of you who have been there since the beginning!! I can’t say how much I appreciate you. I love doing what I do! I get to share my passion and life with people who have similar interests and I’ve made some awesome friends along the way. The internet is a crazy world isn’t it?  Now that we are well into Feb and it’s officially 2018, I wanted to just share with you guys a little of what has been going on in my head lately and what I am working towards in 2018.

2017 for me was a year of figuring things out. I wanted to really figure out who I was as a blogger, what I wanted to do with this platform and what worked for me. There was a lot of trial and error just to see what would work, what wouldn’t, what I liked, what you guys liked. Thanks to that year of just letting myself feel things out, I now feel really prepared and centered for this coming year.

There are a few new things I wanted to share with you guys. This is the first year that I have a management team supporting me and helping me deal with some of the behind the scenes stuff that happens with my blog. I also have someone helping me organize my life as in blogging schedule, goals, deadlines…etc. As I’ve talked about in a previous post, I have major ADD and just having someone to keep me on track has been amazing. I’m so grateful to now have people working with me on the FV team. I  finally feel I have time to focus more on the content and less on all the little things that take up so much time on the back end. Now that I feel I can finally focus in and have a clearer head space (thanks to the team) I have so many things I want to accomplish and goals for this year!

Heres a few promises I am making for this year:

  1. I am only posting about products, clothing and things I really believe in. I want there to be trust in this space and I want it to be known that if you see me wearing something or trying something out, you can believe that I am not just posting because it may be sponsored. I want this community that is built under FV to be 100% authentic.
  2.  More post that are beneficial to you. I have been doing styling videos on instagram lately just to show the process of how I build an outfit and I notice you have really been loving them! I’ve gotten nothing but amazing feedback. I love to hear when you guys say, “Oh I definitely looked at your video to see how to style my frumpy oversized sweater!” I live for these kinds of comments and I want to keep producing more content like that which can give you bits of information that can add value to your life. Maybe its styling,  maybe it’s blogging tips or something in between.  This year will be filled with useful information. I am currently working on an e-book which I can’t wait to share (but more on that to come later, as I don’t know how long it will actually take me to finish!)
  3. Refreshing Frank Vinyl. This year is all about change. I feel that I have grown so much this past year. Both emotionally and creatively. I’ve given all my time to FV and have finally seen some amazing results. I feel that I have put so much time into other aspects of the game that I have neglected the design and flaws of this website just a little. I want to just update everything. My website, the “about me”, my videos, photos and everything in between. It’s been forever since I have done that and I would love for this space to be easier to navigate  via mobile and all in all be up to date.  I may even be taking down some old posts and just starting from scratch with my new site. I’m all about simplifying this year and if I have to break from some of the old thats ok.
  4. 100% Authentic. In this world where everyone is competing and you are in the public eye it can be hard to just be yourself. In the past, I had found myself hiding some of my personality just because I wasn’t comfortable in front of the cameras and would hide behind a screen (so to say). This year I am making a 200% effort to not give a f*** and just “do” and “be” without analyzing it all so much. I want to create beautiful images and content that speaks to me and attracts people who also are interested in what I am putting out. I want to show more of my personality with you guys. This is one of the main reasons I started a Youtube Channel. I feel that photos are beautiful and tell a great story, but in order to really connect with you guys, video will help showcase more of my life and behind the scenes of what you don’t see through my blog and photos.  I hope you guys enjoy them!

As far as posting, I will definitely keep a steady flow of outfit posts, travel, videos, blogging tips and tricks, tutorials and a just random thoughts from me as I have been doing up until now. The only difference is I want to give all the content my full attention. If that means it might take me a little longer to post it, then I’m ok with that and I hope you guys are too! The main goal here is to have a happy life, have a happy blog and also give you guys quality content. I found myself getting too busy last year and in the end would only find myself burnt out! My creativity started to die down and I would become irritated with the blog. I love this blog and I love what I do so I want to take a step back, refresh everything and keep on moving forward taking my time to create and keep this place a happy place.

Thanks for listening to me ramble! I hope this just gives a better idea of where Im coming from this year

Thanks for being awesome guys and always reading!

Yeah, you aspired to be Rumi Neely for a long time. You even used her old boyfriend for some of your earlier photos. Now, I feel you’re just another Song of Syle clone of “wanting to be authentic blah”… You do have some good posts but it’s drowned in the more contrived posts that nothing sets you apart. What can you contribute differently really? Something to ponder.

I did aspire to be RUMI back when I first started (7 years ago), but not her, I was just in love with what she did with her blog. I think that all new bloggers start by admiring someone that is doing amazing and I don’t think thats a bad thing. I worked with Colin because I really admired his work and wanted to work with inspiring photographers. There are still many photographers I would love to work with one day. Colin was the reason I fell in love with fashion blog photography in the first place. I am not ashamed to have worked with him as he taught me so much about photography and took me to another level in understanding my equipment and light. A lot of people try and work with people they look up to (as they should as that is how you learn the quickest). I think it was a journey at first in trying to find myself and for the past years I feel I have been nothing but myself.. I’m sorry if you think Im not authentic. It’s interesting though that you have been watching me for that many years. So, I would love to know what is it that keeps you around if you think Im inauthentic?

@Wyldeblossom you sound so salty for being such a longtime fan. Post a link to your blog so we can see what you contribute! I’m willing to guess not much. Something to ponder.

She wont answer you – I have seen Wyldeblossoms in the comments of other bloggers being the Rumi police. I feel like she thinks she’s the first Rumi fan ever and has to defend her. Cool hobby!
